Mohave Mental Health Clinic is Hiring a Behavioral Health Paraprofessional Near Kingman, AZ

LINES OF AUTHORITY: This position is supervised by the Program-relevantClinical Site Supervisor and/or Clinical Director. This position does not supervise anypersonnel; however, the position requires participation in peer reviewactivities. The position may function in any of the Clinical Departmentsproviding services to either children or eligible adults.

POSITION SUMMARY: The BHPP may provide multiple services toclients and families, including, but not limited to Case Management, LifeSkills Training, and Family Support Services. This may include provision ofsupportive services to low acuity and/or medication-only clients. This position will be expected to maintain anacceptable level of direct service provision as measured by billablehours/service value.

PRINCIPALDUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The primary responsibility of the Managing Clinician isto serve as the point of contact, coordinating and communicating with theperson's team and other system where clinical knowledge of the care isimportant.
  2. Engages with the client, family and other involvedparties through face-to-face and phone interactions and works with the clientand family to build trust, encourage hope, and ensure ongoing engagement inbehavioral health services.
  3. Functions positively as a member of the treatment teamproviding medically necessary behavioral health services to clients andfamilies.
  4. Assists and supports the client/family in utilizing safety/crisisplans as evidenced by the progress notation in the record.
  5. Participates in the development and/or monitoring of BehavioralHealth Service Plans (BHSP's).
  6. Assists client/families in finding necessary resourcesother than covered services to meet basic needs.
  7. Communicates and coordinates client care with familymembers, behavioral and medical health providers and community teams/resources.
  8. Maintains client records in compliance with MohaveMental Health Clinic, Inc., ADHS, RBHA/health plans, AHCCCS and JointCommission standards.
  9. Provides customer service to internal and externalstakeholders, as evidenced by direct supervision, complaint resolution, andinterviews with customers.
  10. Participates in the Performance Improvement processesin the Clinic.
  11. he employee must work well under pressure meetingmultiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
  12. The employee shall at all times demonstrate cooperativebehavior with colleagues and supervisors.
  13. This is evidenced through direct observation andinterview with co-worker and supervisors.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
  15. Able to effectively de-escalate clients usingtechniques as trained and outlined in approved crisis intervention models.

PRIMARYCONTACTS:

  • Frequent interaction with clients and theirfamily/support systems.
  • Interfaces with peers, clinical team members andsupervisors, and internal/external customers and stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with community resources/referralagencies.

POSITIONREQUISITES:

Qualificationsand Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalency, or
  • Associate's degree in a behavioral health field
  • Valid AZ driver's license and proof of insurance
  • Arizona fingerprint clearance
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification

Preferred:

  • Experience working with clients with complexemotional needs
  • Knowledge of community resources available,including benefits and entitlement process, as well as an understanding ofmanaged care
  • Understanding of client/family-centered caremodel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Skills/Abilities:

Required:

  • Ability to type and effectively navigatecomputer programs, as well as copier, fax.
  • Resource management and organizational skills.

REQUIREMENTSFOR SPECIAL POPULATIONS

Persons conducting assessments and/or providing treatment to specialpopulations are able, through training and experience as well as throughagency-specific observation or testing of performance to demonstrate competencyin the following areas:

SUBSTANCE USE

Staff responsible for providingservices to substance using members have appropriate training, education, andexperience, and demonstrate competency.

Staff must be able to gather andassess information about:

  • The relationship of each member's physicalstatus to the substance use.
  • The nature of the emotional compulsion to usealcohol and/or other drugs.
  • The intensity of the member's preoccupation withusing alcohol/and/or other drugs.

Staff must also demonstrate competency in their abilityto:

  • Interpret information about a member's use ofalcohol and/or other drugs.
  • Develop a written summary and/or treatment planbased on member's problems and needs;
  • Provide appropriate services.

CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

Staffresponsible for providing services to child and adolescent members haveappropriate training, education, and experience, and demonstrate competency.

  • Staff demonstrated knowledge of growth anddevelopment of children and adolescents.
  • Staff demonstrates their ability to developtreatment plans and services based on member's problem and needs.
  • Staff demonstrates knowledge and skill inworking with family systems.

SERIOUSLY MENTALLY ILL

Staffresponsible for providing services to seriously mentally ill membershave appropriate training, education, and experience, and demonstratecompetency.

  • Staff has knowledge and ability to gather andinterpret information about seriously mentally ill people.
  • Staff understands the member's needs and therange, intensity, and duration of care, habilitation and rehabilitationrequired.

INTELLECTUALLY DISABLED

Staff responsible for providing services to members withintellectual disabilities have appropriate training, education, and experience,and demonstrate competency.

  • Staff has knowledge and ability to gatherand interpret information about a member with an intellectual disability.
  • Staff understands the member's needs andthe range, intensity, and duration of care, habilitation or rehabilitationrequired.

WORKINGCONDITIONS:

PhysicalRequirements:

  • Able to cope with emotional demands as theyarise.
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Able to hear ordinary conversation and phonecommunications.

Equipment:

  • Telephone, Computer, printer, fax, copy machineand company vehicles.
